As your constituent, I ask you to support Virginia mothers and babies and reduce health disparities. SB 35 and HB 1130 passed both chambers of the legislature with strong bipartisan support. The language was a good compromise, with direct support from midwives, faith leaders and community-based organizations and sign off from the Medical Society of Virginia and America College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The Governor's amendments undo this work and fails to address the central premise of the original bill: unconscious bias in health disparities. Please vote to reject the Governor's amendments during the reconvened session. Thank you.
