Weekly Roundup - Celebrating our Work - April 29, 2026

Dear ,

We had a wonderful celebration at our Growing Justice Gala fundraiser on Sunday, where more than 150 people gathered to celebrate our legislative victories and honor Rev. Anthony L. Fludd with the 2026 Community Leadership Award. Rev. Fludd was a member of the Virginia Interfaith Center’s board for more than nine years and served as board chair for the past four years. His leadership spans the Church of God in Christ, including service as an elected executive officer in the Virginia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction's Pastors and Elders Council.

We are deeply grateful to The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D., dean and president of the Virginia Theological Seminary in Arlington, which hosted the event and donated all the food for this elegant affair. We also appreciate the volunteers and gala co-chairs: Cynthia Bullard-Perez, Board of Directors, VICPP; Anne Murphy, Chapter Lead, NoVa Chapter; Kay Frances Dolan, Chapter Lead, NoVa Chapter; and Jamie Conrad, NoVa Chapter member.

VOLUNTEER THIS SUMMER! We are launching our Summer of Service volunteer recruitment program. If you are interested in helping our team do the work of justice, you can volunteer virtually or work in our Richmond office. Please complete this form: Volunteer Interest Form

CALL TO ACTION: Email Governor Spanberger today to encourage her to sign the Paid Sick Days bill that was sent back to her desk by the General Assembly. This essential bill provides at least five paid sick days to all workers so they can care for themselves and their sick family members. Click the button below.

EMAIL GOV. SPANBERGER NOW

We have already sent more than 300 emails to the governor, and we need to send more. We cannot let the Paid Sick Days bill fail. The bill patrons have worked tirelessly to craft a bill that would expand access to paid sick days for working Virginians across the Commonwealth. As so many families continue to face rising healthcare costs and mounting economic pressures, this bill offers a meaningful lifeline, eliminating the impossible choice between going to work sick and losing a day's pay.

In Solidarity,

Keisha

Executive Director
