Weekly Roundup - March 11, 2026 - Legislative Session Wrapping Up
View in your browser

Dear ,

The Virginia Legislature is in its final days of the 2026 General Assembly session. While we're waiting on the outcome of a few key bills, the bulk of our work this session is complete. You can follow the status of all the legislation we've been tracking on our 2026 bill tracker.

Several bills are currently in conference, where a select group of legislators from both chambers works to reconcile differences between the House and Senate versions. Separately, House and Senate conferees are continuing to negotiate the state budget. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contacted the budget conferees to advocate for our budget priorities. Your voices make a real difference!

We'd love for you to join our staff for a virtual General Assembly wrap-up on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Staff will share updates on all of our key priority areas, along with stories from the hill, including the highs and lows, the funny moments, and a behind-the-scenes look at our work this session.

Next week, our team is taking a much-needed break after an intense session. The dedication they've shown has been extraordinary. From the miles walked between our office and the Capitol, to the countless conversations with legislators, the committee testimonies, the hundreds of fact sheets printed, and the lobby days organized and led, this team shows up in a major way every single time.

Please join us in giving a huge round of virtual applause to our staff!

And a HUGE thanks to you for your continued support. We are stronger because of you.

In Solidarity,

Keisha

Rev. Dr. LaKeisha Cook

Upcoming Events and Announcements
Voting underway on the Redistricting Map Amendment

Virginians can vote early from now through April 18 on a redistricting amendment that would give the state legislature the power to redraw  Virginia's 11 congressional districts. The last day to vote is April 21.

The ballot will read:

Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?

A "YES" vote supports allowing the Virginia legislature to conduct congressional redistricting this year.

A "NO" vote opposes allowing the Virginia legislature to conduct congressional redistricting and would keep the previously established redistricting process in place.

Sat., March 14, 10am Covid-19 Rembrance Day-Bell Tower, Capitol Square

Please join Delegate McQuinn for a remembrance ceremony at the Bell Tower on Capitol Square, 101 N. 9th Street in Richmond, to honor the victims of COVID-19.  Together, we will reflect, remember, and pay tribute to the lives lost and the families forever affected. As you may recall, Delegate McQuinn's bill, HJ 605, was passed by both chambers, designating March 14, 2021, and every year thereafter as "Victims of COVID-19 Remembrance Day" in Virginia. Your presence is a meaningful way to show support and solidarity.
Rev. Dr. LaKeisha Cook will be offering a prayer.
