Weekly Roundup - Jan. 14, 2026 - History in the Making: General Assembly Convenes as Virginia Prepares for New Leadership
View in your browser

Dear ,

Today marks the opening day of the Virginia General Assembly, and we hit the ground running! The day began on a powerful note at the Commonwealth Prayer Breakfast, where outgoing Governor Youngkin offered prayers for Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger and her family as they prepare for this weekend's historic inauguration.

Behind the scenes, our team is working at full speed. As bills continue to drop, we're doing interviews with the media, collaborating with storytellers, and preparing compelling testimonies.

The action is already heating up, with two critical bills scheduled for votes this week:

HJ2/SJ2 – Restoring the Right to Vote Constitutional Amendment – This landmark legislation hits both the House and Senate Privileges and Elections committees today and is expected to reach the floor for a full vote by week's end.

SB33 – Increase Access to Health Providers in Schools (Programs for At-Risk Students) – Scheduled for the Senate Public Education subcommittee this Thursday, January 16th.

Watch your inbox for Action Alert emails. When these bills reach the Senate and House floor, we'll need every single one of you to contact your Delegate and Senator. Your advocacy makes the difference!

Want to stay informed? Track the real-time progress of all our priority bills using our Bill Tracker, available on the "Resources" page of our website.

As the General Assembly gets underway, this weekend brings a full slate of inauguration festivities for Governor-elect Spanberger, including the Made in Virginia Market showcasing small businesses from across the Commonwealth, and Executive Mansion Open House and an Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. Click here for the complete inauguration schedule and details.

The work begins now. Let's make this session count!

In solidarity,

Keisha
