One of my favorite traditions growing up was decorating the house for the holidays. I especially enjoyed putting lights on the tree. It was always my job to pull the lights out of the box and test each strand before putting them onto the tree. I vividly remember one frustrating year when several stands wouldn’t light up. I told my mom that I wanted to throw the broken strands in the trash, and she stopped me and provided a valuable lesson. She said “Before you throw them away, test each bulb. Sometimes just one gets loose and disconnects and that single bulb can cut power to the entire strand.”
That same principle applies to our work for justice.
When even one of us disconnects, our collective power dims. The strand needs every light. The movement needs your energy, your voice, and your presence.
It's time to reconnect.
Join us for Day for All People on January 21st at Centenary United Methodist Church in Richmond, Virginia. This full-day advocacy event brings together communities of faith and justice from across Virginia to meet with legislators and speak out on key issues like environmental justice, affordable housing, health care, and higher education in prison. This is your opportunity to plug back in, recharge, and let your light shine alongside others committed to justice. Together, we create the glow that illuminates the path forward. |
