Exciting news! Pre-filing for bills for the 2026 General Assembly session opened this week, and several of our priority bills have already been introduced, including Paid Sick Days, Restoration of Rights, and Bias Reduction Training. The momentum is building, and we need your voice!

We're thrilled to invite you to our annual Day For All People lobby day on Wednesday, January 21st at Centenary United Methodist Church in Richmond, VA. This is your chance to make a real impact by visiting your legislators, participating in engaging workshops, and connecting with fellow advocates from across the Commonwealth.

Last year's event was our most successful yet, with over 400 passionate advocates representing 81 of 100 House of Delegates districts and 37 of 40 State Senate districts. We're aiming even higher this year and we want YOU to be part of it!

VICPP and Community Leaders Meet with Senator Deeds to Advocate for Midwives in Maternity Care Deserts

VICPP staff, along with Rev. Dr. Christine R Wulff 
Pastor, Peace Lutheran Church and Kai Lyons, Licensed Midwife and Co-Owner, Riverhaven Community Birth Center in Charlottesville met with Senator Deeds last Thursday. We appreciate his support for midwives and their critical role in maternity care deserts.

 
Power in Partnership: VICPP & VCHEP led a Conversation on Education & Reentry

Sheila Herlihy Hennessee, Faith Organizing Director, and Kenneth Hunter, Higher Education in Prison Organizer, guided an evening of collaboration with faith leaders, educators, employers, and reentry advocates. Together, we explored how to expand educational opportunities after incarceration and shape VCHEP’s 2026 Strategic Plan.
