Only six days left - November 1, 2023
View in your browser

Dear ,

Only six days left until Virginia's election in which every House and Senate seat is up, and in newly configured districts.

Turnout is historically low in Virginia state elections the year before the Presidential election. This means that every vote matters. But even if you are in a district in which the outcome is pretty obvious, it is still our privilege and opportunity to vote.

If you haven't voted yet, do so by voting early through this Saturday, Nov 4 or make a plan to show up on election day, Nov. 7.

If you have voted, please consider the following two things:

1) Send the message below to your friends and family. You can email, post on social media or text it.

  • Vote at an early voting site between now and Saturday, Nov. 4. Find locations near you HERE.
  • Vote on election day, Nov. 7. If you are not registered, you can register the same day as you vote, thanks to Virginia's same-day voter registration law. Find your polling place HERE.

2) Serve as an election protection advocate. 72 VICPP volunteers have signed up to "staff" four-hour shifts. We are seeking 68 more volunteers to take a shift. A quick training session will be offered before election day.

Next week, I will begin sharing our priorities for the next General Assembly. I suspect you'll be glad for me to stop talking about voting. We are eager to get to know and work with both the returning and the new legislators.

Sincerely,

Kim Bobo
Executive Director

Canvassing on November 4

Join us in encouraging people to participate in the democratic process! We will be knocking on doors of people who have voted inconsistently in the past, since this election cycle has historically lower turnout. You can organize canvassing in your neighborhood or with your congregation (and we would be happy to help put together the groundwork). Or you can join in with VICPP efforts in a few jurisdictions, likely the Greater Richmond and South Hampton Roads areas! Email Robert, our Civic Engagement Coordinator, for more information and resources.
