The work we did last year is presented in our 2022 Annual Report, and there's more... Already, in 2023, VICPP has: · Helped pass a modest reform of solitary confinement. · Improved resources for maternal health. · Advocated increased funds for affordable housing, childcare and an oversight office for the Department of Corrections. (These issues are still at play in the budget.) We are leading a statewide effort to engage congregations in becoming 100 percent voting congregations. This work is critical given the importance of the state elections. We’ll be hosting non-partisan candidate forums, organizing postcarding to infrequent voters and testing some canvassing in neighborhoods with many infrequent voters. VICPP has joined with the Living Wage for Us program to be a pilot partnership in certifying employers as living wage certified. This summer we are inviting congregations to become living wage certified – congregations employ people too! We are also surveying denominations to find out how they are supporting congregations in considering affordable housing projects. Please invest in this important work.
