With Virginia’s elections behind us, it is time to connect with our new and returning legislators. 

Send your Delegate and Senator a letter or email congratulating them (even if you didn’t vote for them). Click here to find their contact info. Offer your thanks for their community service and your willingness to pray for them. 

VICPP chapters are organizing meetings with many Delegates and Senators over the next six weeks, but we probably won’t have meetings scheduled for all legislators. If you’d like to help organize an in-district meeting, email me at Kim@virginiainterfaithcenter.org.  We can help you plan the meeting and provide fact sheets about our priority issues.

As we prepare for the General Assembly, we want to do a better job engaging congregations in advocacy.  Does your congregation have a liaison with VICPP?  If not, could you be a liaison? Please email me if you are interested.

Establishing a Paid Sick Day standard in Virginia is one of our top priorities. Could you get friends in your congregation to sign the petition (or circulate it elsewhere).  Click here for downloadable version.

The 2020 General Assembly begins on January 8th and runs through March 7th.  This is Virginia’s “long” session, which means the process will include the budget.

Plan now to be an advocate. You can:

Participate in the Day for All People – our annual lobby day on January 22, 2020.  Buses will be available from Hampton Roads and NOVA and a van from Harrisonburg.  Register HERE

Join our Social Media Team.  Volunteers agree to repost one message a day (Mon.-Fri. during the General Assembly) to help amplify our message.  Email Roberta Oster here

Serve as a congregational liaison and help engage your congregation in advocacy. Sign up HERE

Be a Witness at the Capitol. These volunteers serve either for one entire week or at least one day per week during the General Assembly.
