Hope in health care: the past, present, and future

There is a health equity crisis in Virginia

  • Women of color die three times as frequently as their white counterparts in childbirth
  • Immigrant children don't have access to preventative care at a reasonable cost
  • Bias colors the way people are treated in all health interactions
  • Communities are still reeling from centuries of racism and mistreatment in healthcare, which leads to vaccine hesitancy and a reluctance to trust health professionals.

We must do more. It is up to us, as people who value both faith and medical care, to add hope to the conversation. Join us to discuss where our health equity priorities stand after the legislative session, and what issues we're likely to focus on next year. There will be a presentation about vaccine equity, both for Covid and for other adult vaccinations. We'll also have a chance to brainstorm how we can stand up for equity in our own communities. We look forward to seeing you online!
