Healthy Communities Reduce and Prevent Violence - Part 2

Registration is closed for this event

The James River Chapter of Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is sponsoring "Healthy Communities Reduce and Prevent Violence" Part 2. The symposium will be held on Saturday, October 12th at the Zion Prospect Baptist Church, located at 408 Darby Rd., Yorktown. It will begin at 8:30am and conclude at 12:15pm.  The symposium is open and free to the public. However if you would like to make a contribution, a suggested $10 donation would be greatly appreciated.

The theme for this program is a "Call to Action". The symposium will provide training, education and resources on best practices in advocating for policies and legislation that will impact the health of the community in a positive way. Kim Bobo, executive director for the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy will be our keynote speaker.

We are planning on having a legislative panel to provide advice and recommendations on the best way people in the community can interact and approach their legislators on a particular issue.

Social Justice University, a VICPP workshop, will empower participants and provide them with the tools necessary to become an effective advocate.

Martin Luther King said, " Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”

Please join us to bring the power of love and justice to our communities and making it a healthier place for all of us to live.
