Countering gun violence from a faith perspective
We are all aware our world is broken and suffers from all the violence we are experiencing today. Gun violence is the leading cause of death in our children and youth. The media brings us news of another shooting on a regular basis. Death and destruction have become an everyday occurrence in this country, with over 40,000 people being killed (over 100 people a day) by gun violence each year in America. And the thousands of lives that survive gun violence will forever be changed physically and emotionally.
The James River Chapter of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy (VICPP) is committed to bringing hope and healing to those weary of gun violence. Our priority is protecting our children, our youth, and our communities from gun violence.
The James River Chapter of VICPP invites faith and community leaders as well as people who want to transform weapons of death and destruction into tools of life.
Join us on Wednesday, May 22 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM via Zoom to hear Mike Martin, founder of Raw Tools and coauthor of “Beating Guns, Hope for People Who Are Weary of Violence”, as well as Miranda Viscoli, co-founder of New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, discuss how we can transform our communities.
The program is free and open to the public. However, for planning purposes we are asking people to register at (register info).
